Thinning hair can leave you looking older than your age and often this can lead to a loss of self-confidence.  Men and women can begin losing hair in the early twenties depending on genetics and various other factors.

Our epiclinic hair restoration with PRP, also known as platelet-rich plasma, is a revolutionary treatment for balding or thinning hair that uses your body’s own natural growth factors, reversing, slowing or preventing further hair loss.  This medical procedure aims at encouraging hair regrowth in dormant follicles to produce a significant improvement in the thickness and strength of your existing hair, and stimulate inactive follicles to once again produce hair.

Who are the best candidates for PRP Hair Restoration?

Ideal candidates for this regenerative treatment for hair loss include those who are:

  • In the early stages of hair loss and notice a generally thinning of their hair
  • Genetically predisposed to hair loss
  • Experiencing patchy hair loss, possibly as a result of alopecia areata
  • Unhappy with the quality or amount of hair they are currently growing
  • Dissatisfied with other hair restoration methods they’ve tried
  • Uncomfortable with the idea of undergoing surgery

Early detection and treatment of hair loss is vital before your hair follicles decline from being dormant to becoming permanently lost.

WHAT IS THE SCIENCE BEHIND PRP?

PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. Platelets are cells that circulate in the blood-stream. Their purpose is to restore function. PRP can be extracted from the patient’s own circulation and was initially trialled for young athletes to accelerate recovery from injury. Much research into other uses have been undertaken. At Epiclinic we have been using PRP for hair growth and has benefitted many of our hair transplant patients. We have also found that PRP appears to reduce the effects of male pattern alopecia in men, and probably in women too. We also find that concentrated PRP provides qualitative improvement for rejuvenation of skin.

Types of methods

The Angel concentrated PRP method is a totally closed-circuit three stage process, not simply using an ordinary ‘centrifuge’ that you might find in a laboratory which only separates red blood cells, using the ‘serum’ or ‘plasma’ left behind.  The Angel system goes much further than that. First the red blood cells are isolated by ultra high-speed separation. The second stage produces platelet poor plasma (PPP). Finally the third stage users laser identification, to concentrate the platelets producing high-quality PRP.

PRP hair loss treatment in Adelaide has been increasing in popularity and has a wide variety of medical and cosmetic applications.

BENEFITS OF ANGEL PRP HAIR RESTORATION

Using closed-circuit Angel PRP from the patient is known as ‘autologous’, in other words only using your own platelets that are completely compatible with only your hair, skin and body. There are no additives, preservatives or other agents when using Angel concentrated PRP.

Benefits include:

  • A medical cosmetic treatment that takes less than one hour
  • Replaces the reliance on topical lotions or other daily treatments
  • Reduce or eliminate the need for oral medication for inherited alopecia.
  • May assist the recovery of hair loss from alopecia areata (temporary hair loss usually associated with high stress levels)
  • Minimal discomfort is associated with PRP treatments when used topically, or in combination with hair transplants
  • Mild discomfort when injected for hair loss
  • Many patients receive earlier hair transplant results*

*When PRP is used during the procedure of a hair transplant, we have found that patients’ results occur sooner as many of the hairs in the transplanted follicles continue to grow rather than shedding and regrowing four months later.

Other uses for Angel PRP

Qualitative improvement in facial skin is a common outcome when Angel PRP is used in combination with Fraxel restore laser. This is thought to occur by penetration of the Angel concentrated PRP through the skin (percutaneous absorption) when applied to the surface of the skin for twenty (20) minutes after Fraxel re:store, allowing growth factors to provide a much needed skin-booster effect.

Angel concentrated PRP costs from $1250

ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

Your procedure will begin with creating the PRP, or platelet-rich plasma. Your blood will be spun in a Premium Angel Closed System centrifuge for about fifteen minutes, and the resulting concentration of natural growth factors will be prepared for injection.

The PRP is injected into the predetermined areas of your scalp where hair growth is desired. The injections are quick and usually well-tolerated by patients. The entire procedure typically takes one hour or less to complete, making it one of the quickest and easiest hair restoration procedures, with no incisions or sutures required.

At epiclinic, we find the best results from administering 3 treatments, each 4 weeks apart.

RECOVERY AND EXPECTED RESULTS?

You will likely be able to resume the vast majority of your daily activities right away. You should avoid harsh chemical dyes or other hair treatments for about 72 hours following the procedure. Normal washing and conditioning can even be performed a few hours after the procedure.

It typically takes three to six months to see results from your procedure. Over time, your new hair growth will integrate with the rest of your existing hair, and it will look and feel natural – because it is. You will be able to enjoy fuller hair that can take years off your appearance and give you a boost of self-confidence. Treatments are repeated as needed to stimulate natural hair growth and maintenance programs are recommended every 6 months.
