CoolSculpting Adelaide

Reclaim your body with a CoolSculpting treatment performed by Epiclinic’s experienced and skilled professionals. CoolSculpting an innovative way to get rid of fat from problem areas using a technique of controlled cooling.

Genetics play a large part in your basic body shape as they determine how the number of fat cells will be distributed in your body. It is also important to note that the number of fat cells in your body does not change, only the size of the fat cell change.

Fat cells are designed to store surplus energy for our body’s future use. If we eat more than we need, the surplus food is converted to fatty substances called lipids. The lipids are then stored inside the fat cells and if this happens repeatedly, the fat cells will bloat up with lipid material and become thicker. The complete opposite happens if we don’t eat enough or when we exercise more. The cells then give up their stored surplus lipid and become smaller meaning our fat tissue becomes leaner.

Weight control and exercise can only change the size of each fat cell but not the number of cells in your body. Essentially, this means your overall body shape remains the same, even with rigorous diet and exercise, leaving your individual problems areas proportionately bigger (perhaps upper arm, back or inner thigh). The only way to change your shape is to remove fat cells from the affected areas to reduce their numbers. There are only two options to do this — liposuction surgery or by lipolysis, another word for cell dissolving.

An Alternative to Liposuction Surgery

Liposuction is an invasive surgery that carries several risks and is not suitable for everyone. CoolSculpting, however, is a non-invasive technique that penetrates into the fat cells and exposes them to controlled cooling. The CoolSculpting applicator is attached to the target area to treat underlying fat tissue without harming surrounding tissue. The cooling effect causes the release of naturally occurring body chemicals that slowly dissolve the affected fat cells in the months following treatment. The targeted fat cells are then eliminated, decreasing the thickness of the fat layer.

The Benefits of CoolSculpting

Unlike liposuction, CoolSculpting is non-invasive which means it comes with several benefits:

  • No Anaesthesia
  • No surgery means less risk, no scarring and no significant recovery time
  • The procedure is quick and usually takes around 45 minutes to complete

While the results of CoolSculpting are not as quick as invasive procedures like liposuction, it can still gradually decrease the treated fat layer by 20-40%. The final result will be noticeable after two to four months.

CoolSculpting for Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia occurs when the development of the male breasts takes on the appearance of a female breast. Gynecomastia is a common disorder effecting 40 to 60% of men. At Epiclinic we correct Gynecomastia with CoolSculpting; this procedure helps reduce the size of the breast; reshaping the upper body, with a more balanced appearance.

CoolSculpting for the Mummy Makeover

For many women, nothing can compare to the joy that motherhood brings. Changes to their body that take place throughout pregnancy and post-childbirth are therefore often willingly accepted. However, after childbirth, it can be difficult for some women to regain their pre-baby body weight. Once-regular exercise patterns fall by the wayside as free time becomes consumed by childcare, and even when an optimum body weight is restored after a lot of hard work, women notice their body has been changed by pregnancy.

A ‘mummy makeover’ typically addresses the changes seen in the abdomen and breasts. Once traditionally administered combining a breast lift, breast augmentation, and a tummy tuck is now effectively treated non-invasively with CoolSclupting.
